ooVoo is an app with which you can voice and video call people all over the world, message them and share your photos, videos, and other media. You can download ooVoo Video Call, Text & Voice for MS Windows, Windows Phone, iOS, Android, and Mac OS X.

Functionality 5/5

It's a competitor to Skype obviously. It has the same features as Skype, you can customize your profile, add profile pics and personal details to your info, and, of course, make different types of calls and messages. The better feature is that you can log in with your Facebook profile and add your friends from there and other social media to your ooVoo contacts.

Design 3/5

Simple design that's not much to talk about. It has brand orange color but other than that it doesn't have some extra comfortable menu or any other eye-catching details. But it's easy to use still, and you won't have any dazzle about which icon to tap.

Usability 5/5

One of the main differences from, say, Skype or any other messenger is ooVoo's stories. No, it's not a new thing in the digital world, but ooVoo probably was the first app to introduce it too. It's like WhatsApp with its photo and video status, but ooVoo did that earlier. So you can make a video and put it in a special Chain and share it with your friends or a global ooVoo community. We even tried to collaborate with friends on making one and it worked! Talking about chains, it used to be pretty shady and with inappropriate content at times, but the latest version has a better control system on that so you won’t have to worry about it. Other than that it's a regular video calls client like Skype, but there are much fewer ads than in Skype. Also, you can call up to 8 people at the same time for free (used to be 12).

Cross-platform use 5/5

It's great that the app can work on so many platforms, especially it's most convenient to use it on your PC. But this ooVoo Video Call, Text & Voice Review is focused on the Android version of the app. It works great if you have a steady internet connection, not as ‘crisp’ as the app's developers say, but it's not bad either.

In-app purchases

There are no in-app purchases detected, but there are ads in ooVoo so it would be nice to have the ad-free version available. You could use to make calls to regular phones and mobile from it, but this feature isn't available now.

The Bottom Line

New update: now you can download ooVoo Video Call, Text & Voice only in .apk version because the app isn't supported anymore by its creators. You can download it from Google Play but it won't work from there, and you'll see the phrase, ‘Check your internet connection’. Nothing's wrong with your internet connection it's just the app doesn’t work properly now.
