Signal Review — No More Privacy Violation Review

Guidelines
Our intention is to make the most of each app review. No matter which platform you use, our reviews are relevant. We check the app's usability comprehensively, devoting from 15 to 24 hours to the issue.

Signal is considered to be one of the safest messaging apps out there. It employs end-to-end encryption protocol, doesn't have compromising features and remains almost unhackable. Let alone the feature, which makes your messages auto-disappear over the time. Download Signal if you worry about private life being violated and threatened.

Functionality 4.5/5

Signal aspires to provide as much privacy and security as it's only possible. For that purpose, there's an end-to-end encryption algorithm, which is impossible to crack, unless you have a key to that. In case someone succeeds at intercepting a ciphered message, it will appear either as some nonsensical gibberish or bunch of alien-like symbols and hieroglyphs.

In Signal you can apply the timer, that once set ticking will erase the messages from your history completely. Although Signal is solely dedicated to protecting your personal data, it's still a law-abiding project. That means whatever info they have on a specific user, will be handed over to the law enforcement. But still even Signal knows very little about you, except your phone number.

As for the rest, it can do all the things a regular instant messenger does:

  • Tons of free text messages.
  • Audio/video calls.
  • Voice messages.
  • File sharing, including photos, GIFs and stickers.

Link previews are also present. They support YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, etc. GPS tracking is integrated in Signal too, but can be disabled anytime at your will. Our Signal review has found out that messenger claims to store none of your data on their servers.

Design 5/5

Signal could be the definition of simplicity with its ascetic and clean interface. It is eye-friendly as well, featuring a plain white background, blue frames and occasional pink tones, when you record an audio message. Tabs get swiped without any noticeable glitches or lags.

Usability 5/5

Signal provides a very smooth user experience. It doesn't devour much of your storage space or RAM. And its privacy protection seems to be much more than just a gimmick, inspired by the Orwell's novels

Cross-platform use 5/5

Signal is available only for Android and iOS devices at the moment. But if you need to use it at the desktop, you can switch to the app's extension designed for Google Chrome.

In-app purchases

Signal is an absolutely free application. None of its features is limited/unlockable, and no extra microtransactions are required for it to function properly.

The Bottom Line

Signal is a must-have app for everyone, who treasure and worry about their privacy. With its laconic user policy and unhackable encryption, it'll be an excellent app to have for human rights activists, journalists, scientists, businessmen etc. In other words wherever the probability of espionage is high, Signal must be there.
